Five Misconceptions About Internet Marketing

  1. Only big rich companies can market on the internet
When you see TV advertisements that feature products from a company, you might think that the company must be well established to afford the airtime. While this is true for most companies it is not necessarily the case for the internet. Even small starting businesses can find their way to the top of the list with the help of emarketing sites through methods such as search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC).

    2.   Lots of flash attracts lots of customers

Websites that contain lots of flash elements takes longer to load for users. People think that having a flashy website attracts more customers but in the end it costs money and will drag the loading time for users. Having a good simple layout with relevant content works much more effectively. Customers are not looking for a good front page but specific information for a service or product. There are web design companies that can help you to balance a good design with meaningful content.

    3.   Businesses don't have a place on the internet

In this age of technology less people are looking up newspapers for businesses but are moving towards the internet to look for products and services. Nearly every household has an internet connection which means there is a much larger area of opportunity for potential customers. In fact most competitors are already offering what you have on their websites.

    4.   Internet Marketing is not worth the time and money

Time and money goes into good internet marketing but the results surpass that of any other investment. The internet is now the first place of search that people go to look for anything and everything. Besides, there are internet marketing consultants, SEO companies, and a lot of tips and tricks that help you along with marketing over the internet.

    5.   Traffic determines the number of customers

A larger number of browsers doesn't necessarily mean you will have more customers. The success of your site is determined by the people who are actually interested and purchase your product or service. Thousands can visit your website without you having any increase in sales. Therefore traffic doesn't lead to success since it doesn't generate income that marketing should.
